Connecting Communities, Transforming Transit

Mar 7, 2024

The Maryland Transit Authority's (MTA) Purple Line is set to revolutionize transportation in the region, connecting Prince George's County to Montgomery County through a 16-mile light rail system. Since 2020, JBA has been a crucial player in this transformative project, bringing our expertise in surveying and engineering to ensure its success.

Our Contributions

At JBA, we've been working diligently to support the Purple Line project by providing:

  • Project control surveys

  • Utility relocation services

  • Construction stakeout

  • As-built services

  • 3D Scanning

Our team has been collaborating closely with the Washington Suburban Sanitary Commission (WSSC) to relocate and record new water and sewer lines, ensuring that the project progresses smoothly and efficiently.

Impact on the Community

The Purple Line project is more than just a transportation upgrade; it's a catalyst for positive change in the community. By connecting these two counties, the light rail system will:

  • Enhance accessibility and mobility for residents and visitors

  • Reduce traffic congestion and improve air quality

  • Stimulate economic growth and development along the route

JBA is proud to contribute to the modernization of Maryland's transportation infrastructure, helping to bring communities closer together and improve the quality of life for those who live and work in the area.

Looking Ahead

As the Purple Line project moves forward, JBA remains committed to delivering exceptional surveying services. We look forward to seeing the positive impact this light rail system will have on the region and are excited to be a part of shaping its future.
